Sweden resumes Schengen visa services for Pakistanis
Pakistani nationals eligible for short-stay visa applications from July 7
DUBAI: Sweden has resumed its visa services in Pakistan, allowing local applicants to submit Schengen visa requests for short visits of up to 90 days.
The announcement came after the 19th round of bilateral political consultations between the two nations held on July 2 in Stockholm.
The embassy in Islamabad had suspended operations in April 2023, citing security concerns. This led to a halt in visa processing and consular communication.

Bilateral engagement in Stockholm
During the recent high-level dialogue, the Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe), Ambassador Muhammad Ayub, while the Swedish side was headed by the Director General for Global Affairs.

Areas of cooperation
Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to deepen collaboration in the green transition, digitisation, sustainable technologies, and ICT.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan welcomed Sweden’s move, terming it a sign of strengthening ties between the two countries.
